IMACS gave me a head start that most kids never get. It helped me think critically, solve problems creatively, and approach challenges as opportunities. That gave me the confidence to build real businesses throughout my childhood.
Shane Herman from IMACS in 3rd Grade to UW-Madison!
The Summer Camp program is how Shane first discovered IMACS as a third grader. He had so much fun that he continued during the school year with Math Enrichment and Computer Enrichment and excelled in those classes throughout elementary school. Shane advanced through and completed University Computer Science I and II during middle and high school.
With a head for entrepreneurship and a heart for helping others, Shane started multiple businesses dating back to elementary school. Notably he is the founder of Let’s Get Booking, a platform that helps struggling readers build confidence by reading in non-judgmental environments such as animal shelters and assisted living facilities. With this innovative effort to boost reading in his community, Shane was selected as a winner in the Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank competition while only in middle school. He also hosted his own podcast, Sweet Spot Network, where he interviewed professional baseball players.
Shane was accepted to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Northeastern University Honors Program, University of Florida, University of Rochester, and Florida State University with multiple scholarship offers. He chose UW-Madison where he will major in Computer Science. After college, Shane plans to return to his entrepreneurial roots by starting a company focused on AI and automation with the ultimate goal of creating ways to help people overcome real-world challenges.
