Emily Namm

IMACS taught me to approach problems differently both in the classroom and in the world. They challenged me when school was too easy and cultivated in me a love of mathematics that will last my whole life.

Emily Namm from IMACS in 4th Grade to the University of Florida Honors Program!

Needing greater academic challenge than school could provide, Emily began IMACS in 4th grade. She thrived in Mathematics Enrichment, Logic Puzzles at Hi-Tech Summer Sessions, and university-level courses in Computer Science. Emily went on to score 5’s on all ten AP exams that she took, a perfect 36 on the ACT and 1580 out of 1600 on the SAT, including an 800 on the math section. She earned straight A’s throughout high school and was named a National Merit Scholar and National AP Scholar.

Math competitions were another outlet for Emily’s incredible talent. During the last three years of high school, she or her team placed in the Top 20 of 76 regional, state and national math competitions, including Emily winning ten individual 1st place awards. Emily’s outstanding achievement earned her an invitation to the Math Prize for Girls competition at MIT. Her writing talents have been recognized as well with Top 3 placings three years in a row at the Broward County Literary Fair.

Emily was accepted at the University of Florida Honors Program, Cornell, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech Honors Program, Southern Methodist, University of South Florida Honors Program, and Stetson University. She will attend the University of Florida on full scholarship where she will focus on Engineering followed by a professional or research career in software design.
