The IMACS mathematics enrichment program is a multi-level program for above-average to talented children in grades 1-6. Students are placed by ability and must therefore complete the placement process prior to registration. This process begins with 20 to 30 minutes of pre-placement preparation activities that your child should work through. After your child completes these activities, parent and student should attend an IMACS Live! placement class via the Zoom video conferencing platform.
The placement classes are taught by senior instructors with extensive experience assessing students’ intuitive mathematical abilities. The instructor evaluates each student’s responses to novel situations. As the class progresses and the instructor learns more about each individual student, he or she continually tailors questions to assess individual reasoning and arithmetic abilities.
After the class, the instructor will email you a recommendation for the appropriate math enrichment level for your child and the best time of the year to start.
