IMACS After-School Programs

Math Enrichment

IMACS Math Enrichment classes are unlike any class your child has ever experienced. IMACS students not only have fun in the classroom, but also develop critical thinking skills and a genuine understanding of the logical reasoning process required to solve advanced math problems.

The IMACS experience is different from traditional math classes: no rote learning, no dry concepts and no "drill-and-kill" techniques.

The IMACS curriculum uses fun games, stories and puzzles to teach children logical reasoning and math skills. Visualization techniques allow IMACS students to understand advanced concepts about numbers, sets, relations and functions that are usually brushed over in traditional – and even gifted – math classes in school. The Math Enrichment program fosters a love of problem solving. Many IMACS parents begin to notice that after starting IMACS, their child starts to use logic and reasoning not just in their elementary math or middle school math classes, but also in all aspects of their studies. That's what makes an IMACS child different.

Math Enrichment Levels

IMACS offers five levels of math classes appropriate for first through eighth graders. After attending a free Demonstration Class, students are placed into these levels by ability, not age. Although the levels vary in sophistication, all levels have the following in common:

  • meticulously-designed games, stories and puzzles;
  • emphasis on logical thinking, abstract reasoning, mental arithmetic and an understanding of mathematical tools; and
  • use of visual and physical devices to teach advanced concepts in creative ways.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to registering in the IMACS Math Enrichment program, students and their parents must attend a free free Demonstration Class. At the Demonstration Class, an experienced IMACS instructor will evaluate your child to determine the most appropriate Math Enrichment level. This class also provides parents with an opportunity to see their child interact with the instructor and experience the IMACS curriculum firsthand.

Sign up now for the free class. (Demonstration Classes are for 1st through 6th grade. If your child is not a first through sixth grader, please contact IMACS for information on free trial classes specifically designed for younger or older students.)
